1980 – 1985
R&O Construction commercial construction company founded. First projects were Smith’s grocery store remodels and our portfolio grew to seven projects.

1985 – 1990
R&O’s project portfolio expands to include not only grocery stores, but to banks, hotels and fuel stations. Our construction region adds projects in Utah, Wyoming, Nevada and Colorado.

1990 – 1995
R&O adds more retail store construction and broadens its projects to retirement centers, office buildings, museums, fire stations, municipal buildings and churches. Construction region adds Idaho, New Mexico, California and Arizona.

1995 – 2000
R&O opens a regional office in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ballfields become part of our portfolio with construction of Ogden’s Lindquist Field. We add to our construction capability schools, health care centers, car dealerships and manufacturing plants. Projects in Washington and Oregon are completed.

2000 – 2005
R&O expands its construction region to 15 states, and adds multi-family housing, lifestyle centers, warehouses and more recreation centers to our expertise. We complete the largest Wal-Mart store expansion and climb to 273rd in the nation in the Engineering News Record rankings.

2005 – 2010
R&O continues to thrive and expand and our portfolio now includes a wide range of services and projects. Because of that, we are stable enough to manage our way out of hard times. R&O has a loyal, established base of high quality, dependable subcontractors we can count on in every state we work, which is now 18 states. During the past five years we have focused on training and accrediting employees to build “Green”, and we’ve added all level of green buildings to our project experience. We continue our commitment to delivering customer service excellence.

2013-2014

R&O leadership transitions to the second generation of the  family leadership when Slade Opheikens becomes President and Chet Opheikens becomes Vice President of Business Development for the Las Vegas regional office. This transition is recognized by Nevada Business Magazine’s “Change is Good” award.

2015

R&O bounces back from the recession with a record $305 Million in revenue and a 212th ranking in ENR Magazine.

2016

R&O launches a new logo, brand and tagline to show our clients that  R&O Big Enough for every type and size of project.

2018

R&O wins AGC Utah’s DFCM General Contractor of the Year award.

2020

R&O celebrates 40 years in business.
