R&O Construction Company received three project awards at a breakfast held at the Little America in Salt Lake City on Friday, November 5th, 2010. The Gold award for “Outstanding Civil/Public Works” Projects was the Salt Lake County Public Works Administration, a project built to LEED Platinum specifications. This project also received the Gold “Outstanding Architectural Design” award. Honored as the Silver “Outstanding Retail Project” was the Valley Fair Mall renovation in West Valley City, Utah, and the Silver award for “Outstanding Sports/Recreation Project”, was Jupiter Bowl in Park City, Utah. The awards were accepted by R&O Construction and project owner representatives and architects.
Mountain States Construction, a McGraw Hill Company, sponsors the Intermountain “Best of 2010” awards competition which determines the best regional projects completed by firms in Utah, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
Judging was done by a panel of industry experts based on design quality and innovation, craftsmanship, the project’s contribution to the community and the industry, solution of unique design and construction challenges and overall excellence.
The projects are featured in the November issue of Mountain States Construction.

Built by R&O Construction, the new Salt Lake County Public Works Administration Building at 617 West 6960 S. in Midvale held a public grand opening on April 28, 2010. The 22,805 square ft. building is seeking a LEED Platinum certification. Some of the energy efficient components of the Salt Lake County building include concrete walls, recycled glass countertops, the use of reclaimed trestle wood, bamboo floors and ceilings and energy efficient solar panels.
